How to make two tone tear drop shape quilling flowers

Image
We are coming close to mid February and I'm blogging about something that I did last January! LOL! It's been a month since I last blogged here. And soon enough, after this I'll be blogging a lot more on what I did last January because January was so packed with crafting activities. Unfortunately, I just didn't have the time to blog about them then.
Last year I made quite a lot of this two tone tear drop shape quilling flower for my customers. I made quite a lot of cute thank you cards for them and decorated them with this flower. I even made a birthday card with this type of flower. Since so may requested for a tutorial for this flower, I tried to make one for them. I don't always get some free time to do it, but when I do, I try to make a few if possible.
I do hope many enjoyed the tutorial I uploaded on YouTube.....and tried to make this flower your own. For those who didn't manage to check it out earlier at my YouTube channel, you can check it out at the v…

How to make Ketupat ribbons for Raya cards

Image
Hello again! It's March 2018 and I have been busy the past few weeks with lots of things. Early this year I was so obsessed with knitting, crocheting and also weaving. Most of the projects are still ongoing. Still not completed yet because I only do them during my free time, which is mostly at night while watching TV hahahah. But I think I might have to slow down or even stop my obsession for a while because I have a lot of cards to make before Ramadhan comes.
This post today is something that I have been meaning to do for years. It's a very simple tutorial and something that is very easy to do. This year, I got another request from one of my followers on Instagram. She is one of hundreds who have requested me to do it over the years, so  I made sure this year I would find the time to do it and share with everyone how I make these Ketupat ribbons.

As most of you know, I've been making them for so many years now in different sizes. Each year I would make it a point to make…

Quilling leaf tutorial

Image
(My handmade birthday card that I made last year using those quilling leaves)
My first quilling tutorial for 2018. ☺☺☺
I wanted to do this simple quilling leaf tutorial since last year after I made the leaves for one of my  handmade cards. There was a lot of demand for the tutorial after I made a blog post about the handmade card. In fact I did make one video tutorial of the quilling leaf last year but there was some major mistakes that I did in it therefore I couldn't upload it on YouTube. Ever since then, I never had the time again to do another one till today. Waahhh sibuk sangat ke??!! Hahaha! Oh well! At least I did try to make it again this year. The first of many more to come in shaa Allah. ☺❤
When I made those quilling leaves for my handmade card, the leaf was pretty simple. Basically I just used the same technique as I did the quilled sprigs and just wrapped the sprig with another piece of quilling paper around it to make it look like a leaf with veins. This year, I thoug…

My first woven scarf

Image
Hello again! I hope you are not disappointed to see me updating my blog with a post that's not related to quilling or handmade cards. I guess I'm taking some of my free time from card making and quilling to pursue my joy in other types of craft. I want to make this year, a year about learning and experimenting on new crafts and expanding my skills.
Anyways, this year, after finding joy in knitting, I wanted to also find back the joy in weaving. Knitting, crocheting and weaving, all use the same the material, which is yarn to make scarves, sweaters, blankets or whatever we like with them. So after starting the year with knitting, I thought of weaving or maybe after that, try my hand at crocheting too, which I have also tried many years before but was not really good at it. Who knows, maybe this time, I'll be much better at it right? Hahaha! God willing!
I believe this is not my first time experimenting on weaving. I've tried it a few years ago but on a very small A4 si…

Hand knitted scarves

Hello everyone!  It's 2018! First blog post of the year! It is time for new beginnings and new crafty things to do! BUT at the moment, all I feel like doing is KNITTING! I can knit all day long if I have the time for it. Unfortunately, I only have about 1-2 hours to do it every night. Looks like my love for knitting has not yet subsided, in fact my love for it is getting bigger and bigger everyday. Ever since I started learning about it last year, I just kept going and going at it. ADDICTED!!!
So last November, I started to knit a scarf for the first time. I really wanted to try something other than French knitting and knit something that would be nice enough to be given as a gift for someone special. Something people can wear. Nothing complicated. Simple pattern for a newbie like me. I started searching for ideas on YouTube. That's when I thought of knitting a scarf. It was easy enough although it's time consuming. The thought of having to knit a long scarf was scary bec…

Miniature hand knitted scarf on Christmas card

Image
Hello again!  Today is the day! It's Christmas day! When people are busy celebrating Christmas and enjoying their holidays, here I am writing about my second Christmas card design for 2017. This is a card made for a dear friend of mine. I planned to post it before Christmas just like the other card I made, but unfortunately, it had to be postponed. Boohooohooo!! So sad!
I made something for my friend and I plan to post it along with this card. Until that gift is ready, I can't post it yet. So I'm pretty stressed out here trying my level best to get it done before the year is over. It could be a new year's gift as well, so I'm working as fast as I could to get it all done on time.

I really enjoyed making this miniature scarf for the card. It's just so cute. I think I made so many of them in the beginning when I was experimenting with the measurements. I had to make sure they would fit nicely on the card. In the end, I think I made it  a bit too long for the ca…

Miniature hand knitted sweaters on Christmas cards

Image
Hello everyone! I'm sure a lot of you are in a holiday mood and can't wait to celebrate Christmas that is just around the corner. I've just finished making these cute pop up Christmas cards for my friends. Looks like I'm late again and the cards would probably arrive to them after Christmas.
I had it all planned out so well but God knows best. I thought this year I could get my Christmas cards done early and have them arrive to my friends a few days before Christmas. But unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned. Something horrible happened to my Mom and all my work had to be put to a stop! My Mom fell in her bathroom and hit her head on the floor a couple of weeks ago. She had to be warded for about a week and is on the road to recovery now, alhamdulillah.
It was really a difficult time for me and my Mom. None of us has ever experienced something like that before so it was an eye opener and we learned a lot from the experience. I hope to never have to go t…

Combining French knitting and quilling on a card #2

Hello again everyone! Looks like I've been making this knitted quilling heart card again this month. In fact I made quite a few of them for some old friends on their birthday and some extra for stock. I really enjoyed making this design because I get to play with vortex coils again and of course not forgetting the knitting!! Obsessed with knitting nowadays haha!
The reason why I'm blogging about this one is because, I've made some changes to the design especially the colours of the knitted quilling heart and also the pop up hearts. I decided to make it look more bright and cheerful to match the colours of the pop up hearts.
The knitted heart now has flourescent pink and red Lily yarn combined together. The previous one has soft pink and red Lily yarn.

I remembered having this really cute bling bling heart stickers and I couldn't resist not sticking them on the pop up hearts. I also added those punch out hearts to add more different sizes of hearts and crowd it u…
